BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Empire State has been preparing for the eclipse for a year and a half, working to ensure New Yorkers and hundreds of thousands of visitors alike can safely see the eclipse.
Governor Kathy Hochul said that during the last event, the state experienced traffic jams and many people ran out of gas, so they’re taking action ahead of time.
The governor’s interagency task force has been troubleshooting problems like traffic, cell service, and even public bathrooms all across the state.
“It’s going to bring in thousands if not millions of people to localities all the way along the trajectory of this. It’s going to be Jamestown and Buffalo and Niagara Falls and Plattsburgh and everything in between,” said Hochul.
Hochul said the task force’s main goal is to encourage tourism to the state for the eclipse and to make sure they are prepared with the facilities to handle the influx.
