Windsor County Sheriff's Deportment to patrol in Tunbridge

TUNBRIDGE, Vt. (WCAX) – The Windsor Country Sheriff’s Department has picked up another patrolling contract with a town in a neighboring county. The select board in the Orange County Town of Tunbridge has agreed to a $50,000 one-year contract with the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department. That contract, which starts July 1st, will pay for about 15 patrol hours a week. Windsor deputies already patrol in nearby Chelsea. Officials from both towns say the orange county sheriff’s department simply didn’t have the resources to suit their needs and say the Windsor county department is a good fit.

“One of my deputies is life long resident of Tunbirdge I think that gives us a real heads up into what’s going on in the community and we hope to really assimilate ourselves into the Tunbridge community and serve them and protect their citizens.” said Windsor County Sheriff, Ryan Palmer.

The Windsor County Sheriff’s Department is also pursuing a contract with the town of Brookfield, which is also in Orange County.
