Sleepout for Burlington homeless youth

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – More Vermont young people are ending up on the streets.

Tonight hundreds will join them to sleep outside at the First Universalist Unitarian Church in Burlington to raise awareness about the problem.

The event aims to show Vermont what some young people are dealing with.

This will be Spectrum’s 13th year doing the sleep out.

Organizers say this event attracts over three hundred people.

And spectrum says its seen a significant jump in homeless young adults in the last several years.

Spectrum says they predict there could be as many as 30 young adults on the street in Burlington and over 60 in Chittenden county. Spectrum says that these numbers are due to a lack of support and resources.
