ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – A St. Johnsbury man was arrested for allegedly chasing people with a knife. According to St. Johnsbury police, 40-year-old Alexander sergeant regularly sleeps on the benches in front of the welcome center in town. While responding to an alarm , police say two men approached an officer and said a homeless man chased them wielding a knife. Police say security footage shows sergeant yell at the men and then remove a 14 inch butcher knife from his jacket, and chase after them. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, and will be in court in June.
