As I continue my journey to showcase the mainstream artists of tomorrow, this week's Episode of Next Rated does not leave the confines of the Champlain Valley as I got the chance to talk with Burlington's own Mysunterstood and Funky Diabetic—two different artists with two very different approaches to Hip Hop music. I found both of their stories captivating, from Mysunderstood's mild-mannered personality and understated beauty to her stage presence, which allows this woman of 5'1" the stage presence of Shaquille O'Neal, Funky Diabetics, not allowing his condition to rule his life, with beautifully crafted bars of furry, and the support system that cheers him on at every show that includes his mum and his sister and neighborhood friends. They make me so proud to live here in this city and be able to watch them grow. It reminds me of why I got into this business, and I would love to see them on the Tele one day and say, "I knew them when..."
