BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – South Burlington music venue Higher Ground is once again making a play to move into the Queen City.
After a multi-year effort to move the venue to the Burton property was nixed last year, Higher Ground is now interested in a property at 405 Pine Street, according to a city memo. That property hosted popular outdoor concerts during the pandemic and the City Council is looking at changing zoning to make the potential move possible.
“Burlington has a great interest for attracting regional venues like this. We want to be the hub of the arts, we want to be the place where people come for their entertainment,” said Councilor Joan Shannon, D-South.
The council is seeing the proposal for the first time on Monday. It will go through the public process over the coming weeks and months.
