Preparing to take the plunge to support Special Olympics Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Hundreds of people and their supporters are gearing up to take the plunge in Lake Champlain this weekend to support the athletes of Special Olympics Vermont.

The Penguin Plunge starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Burlington Waterfront.

Friday night, people gathered at a mixer ahead of the event. Our Katharine Huntley checked in there to find out what people need to know ahead of the event.

And our Jess Langlois has the scoop on what the weather will be like for that chilly swim.

Watch the video to see.

WCAX is sponsoring the event and our John McMahon and Elissa Borden are hosting. And members of the WCAX team– Channel “Freeze” News– will take the plunge! Join us Saturday at the Burlington Waterfront for the Penguin Plunge. Even if you can’t go, you can still donate to the cause.
