BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermonters struggling with alcohol and drug use can now seek help via phone and text 24-7.
People struggling with alcohol or drugs use can either make a live call, chat online, or visit the state-spnsored website to find information and support services.
“It’s crucial that it’s 24/7, mostly so that when somebody is ready to pick up the phone or you know, chat with somebody, that that’s available. Because you don’t know when they may feel that way again,” said the Vermont Department of Health’s Kelly Dougherty.
VT Helplink received more than 1,000 calls and online chats last year and more than 21,000 website visits.
More than $1 million in grant funding made the new hours available.
