RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – Rutland Winterfest organizers are bringing in some hired guns this year — snowguns that is.
They received an $80,000 grant to borrow two snowguns from Killington to create snow for next month’s festivites.
The snow will be made at at Casella’s Mendon pit and then hauled into the Marble City for sledding and other activities on Center Street.
“These two were at our tubing park actually, and we’ve made a great base over at Killington for tubing up there so these fan guns — they’re able to just connect to water and then easily make snow,” said Killington Resort’s Amy Laramie.
“We’re going to have the snow to be able to have the events and pull it off. I’m just super excited to know that we got that in our corner,” said Russ Marsan, a Winterfest organizer.
Casella is expected to start making snow by next week. Winterfest runs February 14 to 22.
