Open meeting law requires public access

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – A new resource aims to improve transparency in Vermont.

The open meeting law passed at the end of the last session. It requires meetings of governmental public bodies to be open to the public at all times with the right for them to participate.

The law intends to increase transparency and accountability in state government.

This week, the Secretary of State released a training video that will be mandatory viewing for certain Vermont public officals like select board chairs and town managers.

You can watch that training here.
