Hartford police chief resigns

HARTFORD, Vt. (WCAX) – After two years on the job, the police chief in Hartford is resigning.

Greg Sheldon was selected as chief in January 2023 after spending more than 20 years at the Rutland Police Department.

Hartford’s town manager said Sheldon helped fill vacancies and reorganize the department.

Now, town officials say he’s leaving to pursue personal interests. Chief Sheldon will stay on through February 2025.

The town says it will announce plans for interim leadership and the search for a new chief in the coming weeks.
