Schumer: Northern Border Regional Commission reauthorized

WASHINGTON (WCAX) – The Northern Border Regional Commission has received reauthorization for five more years.

The federal-state partnership, first enacted by Congress in the 2008 Farm Bill, provides millions of dollars in economic and community development assistance to the most distressed counties of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York.

During its recent spring round of funding, it awarded nearly $8 million to Vermont projects alone.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer Thursday announced they have successfully reauthorized the NBRC for another five years, increasing funding.
