EAST BURKE, Vt. (WCAX) – After months of work, the village of East Burke got their snowmobile bridge back.
The bridge was knocked down by the river in the 2024 July floods.
The community came together to raise twenty thousand dollars to put the bridge back up.
Officials say kingdom trails, local and visiting snowmobilers use the bridge, and others use it all year round.
And after the bridge is fully stabilized, everyone should be able to use it in the next couple weeks.
“It is a safety factor as well. It keeps the snowmobiles off of route 114. which is very busy with logging trucks. It allows our kids to walk up to the school or go down to the store.” Jim Sullivan, the Burke Town Administrator said.
Officials say local businesses around the bridge are thrilled to see it back.
