Making a difference through adoption

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Governor Phil Scott recently proclaimed November as Adoption Month in Vermont.

It recognizes those who have stepped up and opened their homes to offer a safe environment as well as recognizing the importance of children’s connections to their family of origin.

Officials say 164 children were adopted last year, 88 of which were adoptions with kinship caregivers. Additionally, there were 61 agreements for ongoing contact between birth parents and children.

But officials say more families are needed, especially for teens.
