New leadership in Vt. Senate

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – New leadership in the Vermont Senate.

Senate Democrats who control 17 seats in the 30 member body, casting secret ballots this afternoon to select who will lead the Chamber when lawmakers return in January.

Senator Phil Baruth, was selected as Senate President Pro Tem.

Senator Ginny Lyons — was selected as the “Third Member” on the Committee on Committees – who decides which senator will chair each panel.

And Chittenden County Senator Kesha Ram Hinsdale was selected as Majority Leader, and Senator Becca White was selected as Whip.

Republicans, who control 13 seats, will select their leaders in the coming days.
