Vermont Air National Guard expands South Burlington solar array

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Vermont Air National Guard says it has begun the final phase of an ambitious $12 million solar power project at their South Burlington base.

The goal of the array, the largest at an air guard facility, is to bolster energy resilience, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance emergency readiness.

The project was kicked off by funding obtained by Senator Bernie Sanders.

The final phase cost $2.8 million and was funded by the federal Energy Resilience & Conservation Investment Program.
