Early voting records shattered in Clinton County

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – In New York’s North Country, early voting records have been shattered in Clinton County.

Board of Elections commissioners say almost 9,000 people voted early in person. That’s nearly a 20% increase from the 2020 presidential election.

In this election, they say there were more first-time voters and more people from across the county coming to vote early.

That also includes an uptick in more registered Republicans voting early.

“If you add early voting and absentees, you know, from where we expect, 30% of the people that will vote all together have voted going into Election Day at least,” said David Souliere, R-N.Y. Board of Elections Commissioner.

In the 2020 presidential election, Clinton and Essex counties in New York went for Joe Biden.
