Another bank robbed following multiple recent robberies and an attempted break-in

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Burlington Police say the suspect in multiple recent bank robberies and an attempted break-in has struck again.

Police say just before 4:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon, they got a panic alarm from Opportunities Credit Union on North Avenue. They say officers arrived on scene within a minute of the alarm to learn that a man had robbed the bank and already took off with an unknown amount of cash.

The suspect was identified as 39-year-old James Plunkett of Burlington, a suspect in four other robberies over the last 10 days. He was also caught trying to break into a family home in the New North End.

Police believe Plunkett fled East on North Street and are asking anyone with surveillance in the area to check their footage.
