BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Federal officials say a New Jersey man unlawfully transported people who illegally crossed the U.S.-Canada border into Vermont.
Tyshan Murray, 32, of Union, New Jersey, pleaded not guilty in federal court last week.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Vermont says on Sept. 8, Murray picked up nine Irish citizens in his SUV, including two young children, who had illegally crossed the border into Richford.
If convicted, Murray could face up to five years in prison.
A judge had previously ordered that Murray be held.
