BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The city of Burlington is offering campsites to families moving out of state-funded hotels and motels.
It comes as eligibility has changed, moving some out of the program.
The city says it will make 12 campsites free to families. You can contact Sarah Russell, Special Assistant to End Homelessness to make a referral: srussell@burlingtonvt.gov.
They’re also looking for property owners with available commercial or residential space to reach out to the Community and Economic Development Office by emailing cedofd@burlingtonvt.gov.
City officials are also asking for donations to support families.

- Flashlights
- Tarps for under tents
- Line/Rope for airing out blankets/clothes
- Tents (8 person, ideal)
- Sleeping Bags/Extra Blankets
- Cooler for Food
- Water jug to transport water from spigot
- Cooking supplies over fire
- Propane cooking stove & propane tanks
- Funding for firewood
Donations can be dropped off Monday-Thursday between 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity, 255 South Champlain Street, Burlington.
