Vermont joins Live Nation-Ticketmaster lawsuit

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont has joined an antitrust lawsuit against online ticket seller Live Nation-Ticketmaster.

The lawsuit, initially filed by the U.S. Department of Justice and other state partners, argues Live Nation and Ticketmaster formed an illegal monopoly and engaged in anticompetitive conduct to maintain it.

Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark says the companies’ conduct hurt Vermont consumers and businesses and made live music less accessible.

The lawsuit asks the court to restore competition in the live entertainment industry by ordering Live Nation to divest Ticketmaster, awarding financial compensation to consumers who paid more than they should have for tickets in a competitive market and prohibiting Live Nation from engaging in anticompetitive practices.
