Zuckerman clinches Democratic primary for Lt. governor

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont Lt. Governor David Zuckerman on Tuesday held off Democratic challenger Thomas Renner to win the Democratic primary for Lt. governor.

With about 30 percent of the votes in, the AP called the race for Zuckerman, who was leading by a margin of 58 percent.

Originally from Massachusetts, Zuckerman attended the University of Vermont in the ‘90s and was inspired by Bernie Sanders before serving in the Legislature for a number of years. He’s currently in his second stint as lt. governor after an unsuccessful run for governor four years ago.

Zuckerman will face Republican John Rodgers in the November election.
