Vt. insurance company to argue for rate increase

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Health care costs could be on the rise again for some Vermonters.

On Thursday, Blue Cross Blue Shield will argue for a 4% rate increase.

In May, WCAX News reported that Blue Cross asked the Green Mountain Care Board to raise their rates by 16% for individual plans and 19% for small groups.

The insurance provider cited higher drug prices and the aging demographic using more expensive care.

In a public meeting on Thursday at 4 p.m., Blue Cross Blue Shield will be in front of the Green Mountain Care Board to argue for an additional 4% increase. The link to that meeting is here.
