RICHMOND, Vt. (WCAX) – Residents in a Richmond neighborhood lost a bridge to the flooding that will likely be a costly repair.
For years, 10 households on O’Neill Drive relied on a bridge built over culverts to get around.
Now, that bridge is gone and people living on O’Neill Drive are semi-stranded with little hope of repairing it.
Because it’s a private road, they say can’t get federal or town funds.
“I don’t even know where to begin. We have 10 houses on the road and a budget of less than $1,000 right now that we already have allocated to higher on the road, so this is above and beyond anything that I think we can functionally financially handle ourselves,” said Nicole Davis, one of the stranded residents.
For now, the residents can use a dirt road to drive through a neighboring community.
