RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – A former Rutland nurse is facing multiple federal criminal charges for possessing firearms while unlawfully using drugs.
Daniel McSwiggin, a former nurse at Rutland Regional Medical Center, is accused of firing a weapon, according to court documents.
State and federal authorities raided a home on East Street early Tuesday morning and say they found what’s believed to be cocaine and multiple rifles.
RRMC officials said in a statement that McSwiggin has not been employed by the hospital for several months. “We prioritize the safety of our community and are grateful for the diligent work of our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners in their recent efforts,” they said.
McSwiggin will be held until his trial date, which has not been set.
