WINOOSKI, Vt. (WCAX) – One person is recovering after a Winooski homeless encampment went up in flames Monday morning.
It happened just before 9 a.m. under Burlington’s Blue Bridge on the Winooski side of the river. Burlington fire crews were headed to a training when they spotted heavy smoke in the area of the intervale.
A source at the scene tells WCAX crews ran out of water and had to use water from the river.
One person suffered burn injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
