Police: Woodstock man shot during botched burglary due in court next month

CHELSEA, Vt. (WCAX) – A Woodstock man now faces attempted burglary charges connected to an incident in December.

Vermont State Police say Hugh Shackleton, 33, tried to break into a home on Button Hill Road on December 20th but was shot with a rifle by Justin Duddie, 21, who was at the home at the time.

Police at the time said Shackleton was hospitalized with multiple serious injuries to his lower extremities.

He is now due in Orange County Superior Court on June 19th.

Duddie has not been charged.
