SHELBURNE, Vt. (WCAX) – A unique blend of art and math is coming to the Shelburne Museum this weekend.
The museum is hosting an art exhibit created by students at the Hinesburg Community School. It includes drawings and paintings made by kindergarten and first graders that incorporate math skills and use collections from the museum.
“So, you can imagine counting the blocks of quilts in different parts of the museum. So, it’s all about using both sides of our brain — so how do we put the art back in STEM education and make it STEAM education. So, we’re really taking the creativity as well as the rigor of math skills and creating one path for our youngest visitors,” said the museum’s Tom Denenberg.
The program was developed in partnership with the Olivia and Leslie Art and Math Program, whose founder is a museum trustee. It runs Friday through Sunday.
