Police arrest St. Albans woman in restaurant thefts

ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) – Police have arrested a woman accused of stealing from two restaurants in St. Albans.

St. Albans police were called to Twiggs American Gastropub on North Main Street Monday just before 4 p.m. for reports of a woman stealing a money bag and running away.

She was identified as Megan Royea, 20, of St. Albans, and police caught up with her nearby.

Just a couple of hours later, after being released on a flash citation, police say Royea committed another theft, this time at From Scratch on Main Street. Police cited Royea again.

She is due in court in June.

Investigators say Royea had also vandalized a car earlier in the day.

According to St. Albans Police, Royea has had more than 50 contacts with police this year.
