BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – If you’re wondering what to do with your Eclipse glasses, we have a list of drop-off locations where they can go to get another life.
Chittenden Solid Waste District is partnering with an organization called Astronomers Without Borders to collect the glasses and have them be used for future eclipse events around the world. They think they could be sorting through 80,000 glasses.
If you’re in Chittenden County, you can drop your glasses off at any of the 6 Chittenden Solid Waste District locations, local libraries, or at the following drop-off spots: Essex Report, Jules on the Green, Town of Shelburne, University of Vermont, Hula Lakeside, Waterfront Park, Battery Park, Roosevelt Park, Leddy Park, and Oakledge Park.
“Bring them to those organizations if you have one-offs. Come to our drop-off center and put it right in the bucket here, the bin here. Otherwise, if you have a lot of them, we’re asking them to tie them up into a bag and drop them off here and we’re going to take care of them and make sure they get another life,” said Beth Parent of CSWD.
If you’re not in Chittenden County, you should check to see if your solid waste district is doing a similar program.
CWSD will be collecting classes for the next week.
And if your glasses are ripped, you can throw the film in the trash but the paper part of the glasses can be recycled.
