BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – It’s the day before the eclipse and Burlington is crawling with thousands of spectators.
There’s a nonstop stream of tourists on Church Street, soaking up the sunlight and eyeing eclipse merch. Out-of-state license plates fill hotel parking lots. A group sets off for a chilly ride on the Spirit of Ethan Allen. Others wander the waterfront.
Tourists say getting in early is the key to finding parking before it gets too busy. “We came at like eight in the morning so it was pretty easy to find parking and it was pretty quiet,” Stuart Schlisserman of California said.
Officials remind everyone to pack essentials and a good dose of patience as traffic picks up.
