BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Department of Environmental Conservation is reminding the public that projects encroaching on public lakes and ponds are not allowed during fish spawning season.
That season typically runs from March 15 to July 1.
DEC officials say pausing projects that disturb the lakebed during spawning season – even if previously permitted – helps fish breed successfully.
Projects not finished before March 15 must be stabilized.
Projects that do not add rock or concrete, such as docks or floats, can continue.
