$3M in new state funding for upgrades at former Clinton County airport

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – The state has awarded $3 million in new state funding for upgrades at the former Clinton County airport in the town of Plattsburgh.

The county already received $3 million in federal funding for the project last year.

Clinton County’s director of economic development, Molly Ryan, says the new state funding will help create the infrastructure needed for roads, water and lighting.

She says the project’s total price tag is $6.5 million and it is expected to be finished by the end of this year.

She adds that once completed, it will open up 455 acres of land for manufacturing and potentially some housing development.

“Its proximity to the interstate, its proximity to the airport, proximity to rail– it is truly a key site that will mean really big things for Clinton County,” Ryan said.

In a statement, Plattsburgh Town Supervisor Michael Cashman said, “Together we are unlocking the full potential of this land, fostering job creation, attracting investment, and fostering prosperity within our community.”
