WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont officials Friday said they’ve been able to continue to shelter all Vermonters in the hotel-motel program amid a reimbursement rate decrease for businesses taking part in the program.
The Department for Children and Families said most hotels and motels accepted the new $80-a-night rate and they say they were able to relocate people from the ones that didn’t to other rooms in the same area. They’ve also extended housing center hours this weekend for people who may have been caught in the confusion.
There are an estimated 1,701 households currently in the program.
