COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) – Green Mountain Power is reminding customers to keep an eye out for potential scam callers posing as employees of the utility.
GMP Monday reported a sudden surge of scam calls where the caller threatened immediate power shut off unless the victim made a payment.
Officials say they will never threaten immediate shutoff or demand payment over the phone. They recommend customers should hang up in those types of instances and instead call customer service with any questions.
