Vt. murder suspect faces new drug, gun charges

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A Vermont murder suspect faces a slew of new federal drug and gun charges.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Vermont says Zaquikon Roy, 35, of Brooklyn, New York, was arraigned this week on multiple charges, including conspiracy to distribute narcotics, drug trafficking and felony possession of a firearm.

Roy was named as a suspect in the June 2023 murder of Scott Lanpher, who authorities say was shot following a drug deal in Leicester. Roy has not been charged in that case.

If convicted of the new federal charges, he faces up to life in prison and a fine of up to $5 million.
