Funding freeze impacts on small businesses

CONCORD, N.H. (WCAX) – Granite state leaders are sounding the alarm and trying to ensure local small businesses can keep the lights on.

Earlier this month, the Trump administration proposed a pause on most federal funding, sending organizations reliant on that money into a tailspin.

A judge blocked the order before it took effect and another judge extended that block, but the Trump administration has said big changes to funding are on their way.

Now, New Hampshire representative Maggie Goodlander is concerned about the impact of the proposed freeze on businesses and employees.

“This isn’t abstract. I’m hearing from small businesses and nonprofit organizations, from mayors, police chiefs, and fire chiefs all across our communities who continue to face uncertainty in accessing the federal funding that is promised to the people of New Hampshire,” said Goodlander.

Goodlander called the uncertainty that the president’s executive order has caused for small businesses unacceptable.
