Nine arrested after drug raid in Bethel

BETHEL, Vt. (WCAX) – Nine people were arrested Thursday night after a drug raid in Bethel.

Multiple agencies, including Vermont State Police and the Vermont Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant on Gage Road after an investigation into cocaine and fentanyl trafficking in Chittenden, Washington, and Windsor counties.

Authorities say they found over a kilogram of cocaine and fentanyl, a privately made firearm or “ghost gun”, two sawed-off shotguns, multiple long guns, a grenade launcher, and three pistols with extended magazines at the residence.

They also saw several animals living in unsanitary conditions that had to be taken to a nearby animal hospital.

The nine people arrested are now facing multiple charges, including drug trafficking, conspiracy, and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.

The nine people have been identified as 56-year-old Richard Boles of Bethel, 34-year-old India Tweedie of Bethel, 36-year-old Andrea Veroneau of Bethel, 55-year-old Moses Gardner of Tunbridge, 32-year-old Tyler Taitague of Bethel, 33-year-old Matthew Gilbert of Hartford, Connecticut, 31-year-old Anthony Gunn of Hartford, Connecticut, 36-year-old LaQuonne Thames Sr. of Manchester, Connecticut, and 18-year-old LaQuonne Thames Jr. of Manchester, Connecticut.

All are being held at Southern State Correctional Facility.
