BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Burlington Police say one of their officers was attacked by a man wielding a meat cleaver and a knife inside the lobby of the police station.
It happened early Tuesday morning. Police say the sergeant was heading into work when Eric Jones, 34, held up the cleaver and pointed it at the officer. They say the two struggled and that the sergeant was able to disarm him. Then, they say Jones grabbed a kitchen knife from his pocket and tried to stab the officer. The officer managed to get that weapon.
The Burlington man was eventually arrested by other officers and faces charges of aggravated assault.
