BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Congress is back in session, and Senator Peter Welch is touting a new committee appointment.
Vermont’s junior senator will serve on the Finance Committee in addition to his old seat on Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry.
In a statement about his new position, Welch said he will use the seat to lower costs and protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Prescription drug prices are also in mind for the senator, as well as opposing proposed tariffs from the president-elect that he calls a ‘direct tax on Vermonters.’
