Stamford, Vt. (WCAX) – Firefighters saved a home in Stamford, but now investigators say the fire was intentional.
A Stamford man is accused of starting the fire and committing insurance fraud.
On Friday morning, the Stamford Fire Department responded to a home on Mill Road to find heavy smoke but were able to save the home.
An investigation from the Vermont Department of Public Safety Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit found the cause as arson.
They say 31-year-old Joseph Pallas set the fire on purpose.
He was cited on charges of 1st-degree arson and insurance fraud and will be in court in February.
