Officials remind New Year’s partygoers to drive sober

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – It’s almost time to celebrate the start of 2025 with family and friends – and officials are hoping you’ll do it safely.

New Hampshire’s Office of Highway Safety says after the ball drop is the wrong time to figure out a ride.

If you plan to drink alcohol or use drugs for the holiday, a sober driver should be part of the plan as well.

Another option is rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft if you’re in an area they serve.

In New Hampshire, over the last 6 years, there have been more than 900 car crashes over the New Year’s holiday – including two deaths.

The New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety says if you see someone you think is driving drunk, report them to 911.

State and local agencies will be patrolling to make sure everyone is driving safely and sober.
