Vermont man faces sentencing in Belvidere murder

HYDE PARK, Vt. (WCAX) – A Vermont man accused of killing another man at a seasonal camp in Belvidere will learn his fate on Monday.

Police say Michael Chadwick of Brownington shot and killed Mark Benjamin, 42, of Brownington, in September 2022.

According to court paperwork, Benjamin’s mother was in a relationship with Chadwick but had a restraining order against him.

Benjamin and his husband went to the camp to change the locks where Chadwick allegedly shot him.

Chadwick was charged with second-degree murder. He’s being sentenced in court on Monday as part of a plea deal.
