UVM Men’s Soccer captures National Championship!

CARY, N.C. (WCAX) – The Vermont Catamounts are NCAA Champions for the first time in program history following a dramatic 2-1 win in overtime down in Cary, North Carolina.

Trailing late in the second half, UVM equalized via Marcell Papp in the 81st minute, then won it after Maxi Kissel outran a Marshall defender and the keeper to slot home the clinching goal in the first period of overtime.

It’s Vermont’s first national title in any sport since 2012, and men’s soccer becomes just the second program at the school to win an NCAA title (skiing).

More updates to come.
