WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Governor Kathy Hochul’s job approval rating has increased slightly, according to a new Siena Poll released Tuesday.
According to the poll, her approval rating sits at 46%, up from 41% in October.
When asked if they would vote to re-elect Hochul, 33% of voters said they would, and 57% would prefer “someone else.”
“And as we now enter the 2026 gubernatorial election cycle, Hochul starts with less than an enthusiastic welcome from the voters. Only one third of voters – including only 48% of Democrats – say they’re prepared to re-elect Hochul, while 57% of voters – 40% of Democrats – say they want ‘someone else.’ Not surprisingly, 85% of Republicans want someone else, but so do 65% of independents,” said Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg.
43% of voters said Albany’s top priority in 2025 should be the cost of living, followed by affordable housing, the recent influx of migrants, and crime.
