2 dead after Northern New York fire

CHAMPLAIN, N.Y. (WCAX) – Police say two people were found dead after a fire at a home in Northern New York.

It happened on McBride Road in Champlain at about 9 a.m. Saturday.

New York state police were called to a fire at a home with two people possibly trapped inside.

Troopers briefly entered the home but could not find the victims because of the intensity of the fire.

After firefighters got the blaze out, two people were found dead inside the home.

Police say the victims were identified as Dee Duprey, 43, and Eric Russell, 45, both of Champlain. Their bodies were sent for autopsies to find the cause of death.

New York state fire investigators are still determining what sparked the fire.
