14-year-old girl leads police on 3-state chase, officers say

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (WCAX) – No one was injured but two police cruisers were damaged in a three-state, multi-agency chase involving a teenage girl.

Police in Brattleboro were called Monday morning to Hinsdale, New Hampshire, to assist officers there with a 14-year-old girl having a mental health emergency. As they were responding, police say the teen stole a family car and took off.

Police say the girl went through a roadblock on the new Route 119 bridge and crossed state lines, colliding with a Brattleboro police cruiser and nearly hitting two officers.

The chase was stopped at that point but police continued following the girl at a distance.

Police used spike strips on the vehicle in Bernardston, Massachusetts, where they say she then hit several pieces of private property in a parking lot before hitting another Brattleboro cruiser.

Police then boxed her in and took her into protective custody.
