St. Albans holds their 14th Annual Running of the Bells

ST . ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) – St. Albans held their 14th Annual Running of the Bells Thursday night.

Community members gathered in St. Albans’ Taylor park ahead of the run enjoying hot chocolate and donuts. There was also a chance to get photos with Santa, meet a baby cow, and participate in the costume contest.

People came dressed up in ugly sweaters, as Santa and his elves, and even as a pair of Christmas trees complete with presents.

“We’ve been doing this for a couple of years and every year we seem to up our game on best costume. We got it last year, so we’re hoping to get it again this year. It takes us a good few months to figure out what we’re going to do for the coming year,” said Milton resident Norma Jodoin.

The one-mile run through downtown St. Albans kicked off at 6:30 p.m.

Runners jingled all the way with bells attached to their clothes. This year proceeds from the event will benefit the Franklin County Animal Rescue and the Afterglow Foundation.
