Authorities investigating hazing at Dartmouth frat

HANOVER, N.H. (WCAX) – Authorities are investigating alleged hazing at a Dartmouth College fraternity.

Hanover Police on Wednesday said the victim told them they were hazed after pledging to Theta Beta Beta, the local chapter of Omega Psi Phi.

They say the victim had injuries from being hit multiple times with a wooden paddle during an event known as “The Cut.” He was then forced to eat an onion, vomited, and forced to eat the regurgitated onion. The hazing happened in August and September.

Three suspects have been identified and have warrants out for their arrest — Alexisius Q. Jones, 22, of Fountain, Colorado; Milan Williams, 37, of Los Angeles; and Gregory Dominique, 38, of Boston. Williams is an alumnus of Dartmouth and Jones is a student. Dartmouth says Dominique has no known affiliation with the school.

In a statement, Dartmouth College officials say they immediately alerted the police, suspended the frat, and launched an internal investigation. “All Dartmouth students, faculty, and staff share the responsibility of ensuring our campus remains safe and inclusive. As stated in an email to undergraduates and their families on Nov. 21, we are working on several initiatives and engaging in conversations with students on how we strengthen a culture of care and responsible behaviors on campus. We are at our best when we work together toward these important goals.”

Dartmouth Greek organizations over the years have faced frequent scrutiny over alleged hazing, including the drowning death of a student last summer and other incidents in 2018.

Editor’s note: In a previous version of this story, WCAX News identified Gregory Dominque as an alumnus of Dartmouth College. That was incorrect and we regret the error.
