BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Burlington fire marshal says a private fireworks display that was set to go off at the Waterfront Wednesday night has been canceled.
The display was scheduled for 8:30 p.m. as part of a permitted private show for the Associated General Contractors of Vermont’s annual meeting.
But just before 6:30 p.m., Burlington Fire Marshal Matthew Stone said the display was canceled. We don’t know why it was canceled.
The city is supposed to warn residents after numerous residents called to complain following last year’s unannounced display caused confusion. Residents can sign up to get notifications from the city through Burlington Community Connect.
The city hosts five public fireworks displays annually — July 4th, New Year’s Eve, and three baseball games at Centennial Field.
